Salta is a land of vast extensions and gauchos, where
rural life is full of surprises and charms for tourists.
Ranch houses (which in this part of the country are
known as “fincas”) stand out for their respect of tradition,
elegance and hospitality; and they combine
rest and relaxation with a more active life and the
possibility of getting to know every nook and cranny
of the province.
Day on a “finca” starts with the scent and flavour of fresh bread
and home-made jams, which can be tasted in a spacious dining
room next to a stove or the fireplace, or in a luminous arcade
that looks on to the rising sun. In the morning, visitors can take
part in different activities such as horse-riding excursions, short
walks and visits to dairies and other production centres. In the
afternoon, one can relax a little, while drinking a typical
infusion such as mate and listening to the tunes of a guitar.
There are “estancias”, farm houses, boutique hotels, inns and
fishing lodges in all the regions of Salta. Activities differ from
one to the next one, but all of them allow visitors to enjoy
Salta in an alternative way with warm hospitality, personal
attention from the owners and the possibility of tasting the
local cuisine.
The Peruvian Paso Trail
This circuit includes a visit to the “estancias” that breed this
type of horse. Tourists spend a day in the country and enjoy
different activities such as horse-riding, archaeological visits,
typical meals and accommodation. Peruvian Paso horses have
an elegant gait and are tractable animals, high in spirit and
stamina, which makes them ideal for either short or long trips. |
