 Salta is characterized by its diversity of landscapes, a strong tradition and an important cultural legacy. It has a territory of great morphological variety and wide temperature range of great contrasts, across which mild valleys, tropical forests and Andean deserts spread. Its name comes from the aymará term “sagta”, which means “very beautiful”, today derived into Salta, the beautiful one. It is the heir of the ancient Diaguita-Calchaqui nation, the Inca empire, the colonial historic past and the criollo spirit that fought for the national independence. Many features from this rich legacy still persist in the human and architectural features of its peoples, forging their spirit, cordial and kind. |
