Within the wide geographic biodiversity that Salta
can offer, the wine-making region of the Calchaqui
Valleys are surrounded by mountain ranges of
unusual beauty and color, mountain breezes, clear
skies and historical villages.
It was in the XVIII century that the Jesuits planted
the first vines and since then the valleys have begun
to accumulate vineyards and wineries.
Their
noticeable growth is the result of the highest quality
of their wines, currently featuring more than 3,200
hectares, throughout the Cafayate, San Carlos,
Angastaco, Molinos and Cachi departments.
The
personality that wines from Salta can achieve today is due
precisely to a terroir stamp of the Calchaquí Valleys. |
